From Idea to App Store: The Complete Mobile App Launch Checklist

Mobile · 04 Apr 2026

Launching a mobile app is 40% building and 60% everything else. This is the checklist we use for every app launch — 47 items across 8 categories that stand between your idea and an App Store listing.

Most developers think about the App Store submission process in the last week. We think about it from day one. The apps that get rejected, crash on launch day, or disappear from search are almost always the ones that treated launch as an afterthought.

Category 1: Product & UX (Start at Week 1)

Category 2: Technical Essentials

  1. Deep link handling for all primary user flows
  2. Push notification permission flow with clear value proposition
  3. App performance: cold launch under 2 seconds, no frames dropping below 60fps
  4. Offline mode handling — even if just showing a meaningful error
  5. Crash reporting integrated (Sentry or Firebase Crashlytics)

Category 3: App Store Optimization

The day before launch is too late to start thinking about App Store Optimization. ASO starts the day you name your app.
